Student Research Chemist

The Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG) is a specialty materials provider committed to pioneering innovative solutions. With deep expertise and leadership in material science across the Mobility, Digital, Food, and Healthcare sectors, our over 60,000 employees help drive industry transformation, advance technology, and improve lives around the world.

At MCG, we value each individual's voice. We foster a safe, flexible, and supportive workplace where you can do meaningful work that contributes to a better future for people, society, and the planet.

The Opportunity:

We have a vacancy for an outstanding undergraduate studying towards a degree in chemistry who is looking for the chance to gain experience in an industrial environment. The successful candidate will work on Mitsubishi Chemical Group's cutting edge research projects for the production of MMA monomer.  Working in a dedicated team of highly motivated chemists and engineers you would have the opportunity to carry out your own research project under the guidance and supervision of one of our research scientists.

What do you get at Mitsubishi Chemical Group?

At Mitsubishi Chemical Group you will get comprehensive training and support and the opportunity to influence the direction of the research programme.  Interpretation of the data you generate is crucial and with your input always being considered, you can really make a difference.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a confident communicator with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and a desire to work in the Chemical Industry. You should expect to achieve as a minimum a 2:1 in your degree. Please note that this is not a polymer placement or a chemical engineering placement.

Our company culture

Our culture is rooted in five core values: Integrity, Respect, Bravery, Collaboration and Ownership - we call it Our Way. These values guide how we work, innovate, and grow together.

We believe in the power of diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. KAITEKI, our philosophy for the wellbeing of people, society, and the planet, strengthens our commitment to creating an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute.

We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment experience for all candidates. If you require any support or adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know. We will work with you to understand your needs and identify appropriate support to help you participate fully.

Ready to make a difference? Let's connect!

If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply by Thursday 12th of November 2026.

Submit your application via our career portal and become part of a team working towards a better future through science and collaboration.

We look forward to getting to know you.
